The Basics

What is expedited shipping?

What it is

Expedited shipping is any shipping service faster than ground. The main tiers are 3-day expedited (a standard “expedited” SLA), 2-day shipping (the most common ecommerce promise), and overnight (next-business-day). Brands offer expedited as either a paid option at checkout or as a free trust-building promise on every order, the way Amazon Prime made famous.

Why it’s hard

The trick for ecommerce brands is doing 2-day affordably. The expensive way is express-air carriers (FedEx 2Day, UPS 2nd Day Air) on every order, which kills margin. The smart way is a carrier blend (ground where it can hit the deadline, air where it can’t, regional carriers where they win on cost) calibrated per destination zone.

How Jetpack does it

Jetpack 2-Day Express delivers 2-day across 100% of the contiguous US from a single hub, and shows shoppers a live delivery date before checkout. The blend of ground, air, and regional carriers that makes it affordable is below.

The Badge

The promise shoppers need, right when they decide.

The 2-Day Express badge shows a live date, computed against a real cutoff, on every surface a shopper checks. It never shows a date you can’t hit.

Wherever You Sell

Shopify, WooCommerce, Walmart, Google Shopping. Your listings carry the same speed badge as Prime.

Honest Live Date

The shopper only ever sees a date you can hit. No surprises on tracking day. No apology emails from your team.

The Mechanics

How 2-day actually works.

Three things keep 2-Day Express affordable: air only when ground can’t hit the window, network rates no single brand gets alone, and one blended rate you can plan on.

Ground or Air

Each order picks the cheapest path that still hits 2 days. Ground when your customer is close to the inventory, air when they’re not.

A Blended Rate

One flat number per order you can bake into your margins, and offer 2-day sitewide without fearing the far-zone sale.

Network Rates

Jetpack 3PL’s combined volume across brands unlocks carrier rates no single brand could negotiate alone. You inherit the spread.

2-day, priced two waysExample
FedEx 2Day, typical brand rates
1 lb parcel$30.00
3 lb parcel$30.00
5 lb parcel$31.56
3 parcels$91.56
2-Day Express, one flat rate
1 lb parcel$18.91
3 lb parcel$20.08
5 lb parcel$22.81
3 parcels$61.80

One flat rate for any address in the lower 48, about a third less at everyday parcel weights. It stays lower because nothing flies unless it has to. Illustrative rates: yours depend on your parcels.

Questions

Frequently asked.

A multi-hub warehouse network distributes inventory across multiple regional fulfillment centers, with each order shipping from the warehouse closest to the customer. Jetpack's warehouse network spans 60+ warehouses globally: 45+ across the US, 7 in Canada, 4 in the UK, 3 in the EU, 3 in Australia. MultiHub IQ uses machine learning to distribute your inventory based on where your customers actually order from, so each shipment travels the shortest possible distance. The result: up to 3X faster transit, up to 85% fewer shipments beyond zone 4, and up to 30% lower overall fulfillment costs vs. single-warehouse setups.

Yes. Jetpack handles D2C, B2B wholesale, Amazon FBA and FBM prep, and retail distribution for 150+ retailers (Walmart, Target, Costco, Ulta, Nordstrom, Sephora, Best Buy, Macy's, REI, and more). B2B orders support EDI via SPS Commerce, pick-by-lot, GS1 labeling with SSCC codes, retail-compliant palletizing, and automated routing. FBA prep handles both small parcel and LTL freight with automated shipment creation. All channels run at 99.95% accuracy.

Jetpack is generally built for brands shipping 1,000+ orders per month across all channels combined. That said, we love hearing from newer brands building something exciting. If you're early-stage and we believe in what you're building, we'll talk through what it would take to invest and grow together. Reach out for a conversation. Otherwise, crowdfunding fulfillment and startup fulfillment are good stepping stones until the volume catches up.

Jetpack's 2-Day Express is a packaged service for ecommerce brands: a real 2-day delivery promise rendered on your storefront alongside the price, plus the fulfillment and routing that delivers on it from a single Jetpack 3PL hub. The promise renders on every product page using a same-day cutoff so the displayed date is accurate. Behind the scenes a smart blend of ground, air, and regional carriers picks the cheapest path that still hits the 2-day window, so you're not paying air rates on every order.

Yes. From a single Jetpack 3PL hub we can quote and deliver 2-day to every zip in the lower 48. You don't have to split inventory across two or three coastal warehouses to reach full-country 2-day coverage. Outside the contiguous US, 2-day eligibility varies by destination and origin hub: Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, and APO/FPO addresses are evaluated case-by-case.

Three things keep it affordable. First, every order picks the cheapest carrier path that still hits 2 days, so most parcels move on ground at ground rates and only the long zones fly. Second, you pay one averaged rate per order, so a far-zone parcel doesn't blow up your shipping bill. Third, Jetpack 3PL's combined volume across brands unlocks carrier rates no single brand could negotiate alone, and you inherit the spread.

Yes. The badge renders on your Shopify product detail pages in any of three placements: above the Add to Cart button, under it, or under the product name. The displayed delivery date follows a 12pm EST same-day cutoff (orders viewed before noon show a 2-business-day date; after noon show 3 business days), with US holidays automatically counted. You can customize the badge text and preview it on a single product before going live.

Today, the badge integration is native on Shopify and renders directly on your product detail pages. WooCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, Square, BigCommerce, and headless storefronts can display the 2-day delivery date via our API. Custom integrations into other platforms are supported on the same API.

Walmart fast-tracks brands using a 2-day-capable fulfillment partner into its expedited and 2-day badge programs, and Jetpack 3PL is on that list. Facebook, Instagram, and Google Shopping all surface the 2-day delivery date on product cards when the merchant supplies it, which we do automatically. Amazon's Prime badge is reserved for FBA inventory. Jetpack lets you keep your customer data and your brand experience while still hitting two-day delivery times on your own storefront.

It depends on package weight, dim, and destination zone, but the carrier-blend mechanic does most of the work to keep the all-in cost a lot closer to ground than to air. Many of our brands run 2-day on the same per-order budget they had for standard 3-5 day shipping a year earlier, because the conversion lift on the badge more than covers the rate difference. Get a quote with your current SKU mix and we'll model the spread for you.

The 2-day promise is an estimated delivery date, not an air-courier guarantee. The badge math uses a 12pm EST same-day cutoff with US holidays counted, so the displayed date factors in realistic ship and route times. When a specific parcel misses the window we flag it on the order, surface it to your team, and work the carrier on your behalf through Jetpack Care. We don't auto-credit shipping back to your end customer; brands handle their own customer-facing remediation policy.

Three big things. First, you keep your customer data: every order ships with your branded packing slip, optional inserts, and a tracking experience that points back to your store, not to an Amazon page. Second, your inventory isn't held hostage to a marketplace's policies, so you can run promotions, ship subscriptions, fulfill from your DTC site, and do retail dropship from the same pool. Third, the unit economics are usually better because Jetpack's pick/pack rate plus the carrier blend comes out below FBA's all-in fees once you back out their long-term storage charges and inbound prep.

Adding 2-Day Express to your existing Jetpack 3PL setup isn't a laborious project. Turn the 2-day ship option on in your dashboard, then install the badge plugin on the sales channels where you want it to appear. We can also consult on working with marketplaces (Walmart, Facebook, Instagram, Google Shopping) to get 2-day badges appearing properly once you've added 2-day shipping to those channels.

Expedited shipping is any shipping service faster than standard ground. In ecommerce, "expedited" usually refers to a 3-day service tier (faster than the ~5-day ground default), while "2-day" and "overnight" are their own named tiers. The fastest tier is overnight (also called next-business-day). Most brands use a mix: ground for standard orders, expedited or 2-day for paid faster checkout, and overnight for the small number of orders that genuinely need it. Jetpack supports all three tiers natively, with carrier selection optimized per order based on destination, weight, and deadline.

Expedited shipping is the broader category covering any service faster than ground (typically 3-day). 2-day shipping is a specific tier within the expedited category that promises delivery within two business days of order processing. Most ecommerce brands treat "expedited" as the 3-day SLA and "2-day" as the faster, badged option that carries the strongest trust signal on product pages. The cost difference is real: 2-day usually requires more air-carrier mix than 3-day expedited, which is why services like Jetpack 2-Day Express engineer the carrier blend specifically to keep 2-day affordable.

Yes, when it's done right. "2-day shipping" in ecommerce means the parcel is in the customer's hands within two business days of the order's processing time at the fulfillment center. The gotcha most brands hit is processing time: if an order placed Sunday night doesn't start processing until Tuesday, the customer sees a "2-day" promise but a 4-day actual experience. Jetpack 2-Day Express is built around same-day order processing with a 2 PM cut-off, so the 2-day clock starts the same day the order is placed (when placed before cut-off). The real-time 2-day promise rendered on product pages reflects the actual deadline for that shopper's zip code, not a vague marketing claim.
